This Friday

This friday it is:
cold and wintry, even though it is still summer (just!)
a little quiet and slow
a night for cosying up and pizza

I am:
anticipating another weekend wedding to wear my sparkly silver shoes
loving and this this
planning new card designs and shop updates
listening to this but would also love to listen to White Chalk (it's on my list)

Apparently on the 29th of February women can propose to men (that's not to say they can't any day!). Historically in Ireland it was illegal for women to propose, except on the 29th February. How crazy is that to make a law about it!

Interior Love

I love this London flat belonging to Australian Pippa Holt in the new Vogue Living, especially the clear lucite/perspex table and coffee table filled with magazines, white walls and so cute rug. Definitely a place I could imagine myself in......if only!

Store Update

Added to the Store: new gocco print tree gift tags.

Happy Birthday My Boy

Happy Birthday for yesterday rd! I had such a great time organising a birthday dinner I hope will always be very special for you.

It was a big weekend, but lots of fun and we had fifteen for dinner last night which fortunately flowed very smoothly and the food was wonderful as was the champagne! I have to say my favourite part was dancing with rd once everyone had gone in the candlelight, first seriously and then being silly! Dancing must be the best way to celebrate a birthday.

Lazy Morning calls for Jammies

Fortunately pyjamas are an essential item so I don't have to feel so bad about coveting a few new pairs, the real questions is which ones! Oh and the little slippers, so cute! All from Peter Alexander.

Pink Glow

I love these glass bottle tealight holders in gorgeous pink hues. If I was throwing an outdoor birthday party for rd (it's supposed to rain so it will be indoors) I would be snapping them up, and could think of nothing better than cocktails by their warm glow in the summer evening.
I am having a super long four day weekend this weekend and I am so excited, not only do we have a big birthday we also have a wedding to go to, it's going to be busy busy, but I do love being busy!

Not the Daveys

I have been suffering terrible withdrawal symptoms from the internet this past week or more because for some strange, unknown reason our phone provider decided to direct our number to the Davey family! Consequently they took days and days to fix it and with no internet, have felt a little like my right arm was missing. Ugh!
Fortunately I have had a little project to work on in the mean time, organising dinner for rd's 30th birthday for this coming weekend. I am very excited (I think he is a little too), I have been working on decoration ideas, little paper origami boxes for sweets to take home and Martha's tissue paper flowers, thinking about food and all the little things to help make sure he has a wonderful night.
Now I am going to catch up on my blog reading I have so much missed during my forced time away!
Hope you're having a great week

Rufus and Other Adventures

We had such a wonderful night out last night, it had been a warm sticky day at work so it was fantastic to be out and about feeling so free. We started off with a cold beer and then went to the launch of a book that I have no doubt will be a journey of a read. Followed by dinner at a fish restaurant by the water, which was very yum indeed. We left dinner and after walking a while I relised the buckle had fallen off my bag, so I went back and walked straight into a man holding it out for me, it was quite a strange experience, he didn't say anything just gave it to me.

So then we went to see lovely Rufus Wainwright, that man has such an amazing voice. He didn't bring his band down, it was just him and his piano and on occassion his guitar. My favourite track by far was Going to A Town, and this song has been on high rotation at home for the past week or so and when he played it it was so brilliant. That feeling when you love a song so much and you hear it played live has to be one of my most favourite things ever! I also loved Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk and California.

Quantity not Quality!

I haven't completely given up on the idea of knitting a crochet blanket this year, however I think it is going to take a great deal longer than I expected! It has taken me quite some time to master the stitches and while I have learnt what exactly I am supposed to be doing, the idea now is to get the tension right. These few pieces are just a fraction of my attempts and I have re-tried each many times, it is certainly not coming easily to me. But I am loving the challenge.

Valentine's Fortune Cookies

Hello February! Being the month of Valentines Day I thought I would share these oh so cute felt fortune cookies from Martha Stewart. I am a sucker for anything made with felt, must link back to my "fuzzy felt" (remember those? with the board and all the felt animals and people you stuck on) obsession as a child. Unfortunately rd and I don't really do anything for valentines, it's not that I haven't tried to convince him that sometimes a little romance is nice, but it's not a terribly Australian thing to celebrate. mmm have to try and work on changing that one.
