Market

I went to Salamanca market for the first time in absolutely ages yesterday, mostly I was after some tulips but they didn't have any so I got snap dragons instead. I would have loved the poppies but they just make me a bit hayfeverish.

The exciting find was zucchini flowers! I had some in Melbourne many years ago and they were fantastic and I have wanted to re-create that ever since. I did get some flowers from a friend last weekend but was lazy and left them out and they went all limp. So tonight I cooked them properly, stuffed with goats cheese, ricotta, basil and fresh grated nutmeg and a light tempura batter, and I was pleased with the way they turned out, nearly the same as my memory.

Your zucchini flowers sound delicious! They look so cute bundled up prettily in your photos above. The poppies look pretty too but I know what you mean about hayfever- I have to avoid lilies for the same reason (or pull out their stamens) as they play havoc with my nose! :) Have a great start to the week Catherine x
