north west coast

Our weekend felt like it extended into the week. We’ve been away on the north west coast, tagging along with Matt while he had some work up there. I was a little bit nervous about the trip, our first time going away with Rufus, and entertaining our rather energized four year old in a new space for three whole days on my own. Not too mention the long car rides. But we stayed at Grand Designs Turners Beach and it was the perfect spot, space for everyone, a yard, close enough to a few different places. While Matt worked we visited the light house at Mersey Bluff, played in a number of rather old school parks along the coast, went on the Don River Railway (which Elroy loved), visited the Van Diemens Land Creamery for ice cream (I had the blood orange gelato and it was really good), and visited the Small Folk shop (and purchased a few beautiful things - this puzzle for Elroy, this stacker for all of us, and for me a pineapple - just because it was so cute!).

There were challenging moments, Elroy missed being at daycare with his friends, and being one on one together for several days meant that we clashed at times. But I did enjoy the opportunity to spend the time with him, I am acutely aware at the moment of how quickly he is growing up and he starts school next year! It did feel like a holiday which was really nice.
