Home Stuff I Like Right Now

I've been thinking a lot about homes lately, and I've been particularly inspired by those of Jennifer of A Merry Mishap and Kerry of The Seventy Tree. I love their simplicity and calmness but also they have the ability to add colour and pattern so easily to the basics they have. These are a few of the things I have my eye on right now:

Long Weekend - Stanley

We headed off to the north west coast of Tasmania on friday for the long weekend and I loved it, it is so beautiful up there, all green and beautiful big landscapes, quite different to the scenery I am used to in the south. Admittedly the weather was pretty amazing for winter, perfect blue skies and sunshine and possibly an extra few minutes of daylight (it truly does seem to make a difference), but it was wonderful in every other way too. I am realising that there are so many places in my home state I don't know at all and think maybe more holidays at home are in order for the future.

Early Long Weekend

Tomorrow I'm starting the long weekend a day early and I can't wait, I'm of to see parts of Tasmania I haven't been to since I was a child. I forget sometimes that there are places here to be excited to visit. This week has been tiring, but my head cold is finally going away so I'm looking forward to a change of scenery and some exploration. Hopefully some photographs to share once I get back.

Good Mail

Last week this seriously sweet cloud bread board from Snug Studio arrived in my letterbox. I love it. This year I have been so so good with not buying unnecessary bits and pieces, in fact I think I really have only made purchases of things actually needed, but every now and again I crave something new and possibly a little frivolous. I think this fit the bill perfectly!

Winter

Seems that June has arrived far too quickly for my liking, now it's that quiet time of the year when things slow down, the days get colder and darker and I struggle a bit. This weekend really did feel wintery and I've started it off with a sinus infection followed by a head cold...

I have a few things I want to achieve this winter though and I'm hoping they will get me through: getting better at running outside (as opposed to the treadmill at the gym), learning to make brioche and bagels, knitting and updating the design here. I'm sure there are others.....any suggestions?

In the shots above:
*I started knitting a new scarf
*Bright pink and orange tulips for $10
*Ratatouille made from an Agrarian Kitchen recipe

Les Zigouis

I love these posters from Les Zigouis, I keep coming back to them because they are so cheerful and sweet, I think this one is my particular favourite though.

Rachel Khoo

I have been cooking quite a lot lately, more for myself than for Island Menu, not because I don't want to but because at this time of year the light goes so quickly which makes it impossible to photograph dinners, quite frustrating!

Anyway for my birthday a few weeks back I got a copy of Rachel Khoo's Little Paris Kitchen, then of course had to watch the tv series, and I loved it and felt rather inspired again. We cooked her beouf bourguinon for mother's day (along with Heston Blumenthal's thrice cooked chips and churros for desert) and it worked so well. There are quite a few other recipes I want to try but these cheesy potato nests look amazing!! (suspect they would require a run afterwards!)
