Bagels

Finally I did a new post for Island Menu....some home made bagels. They are really super simple.

Clearly it is a little late to be posting my instagram pics from September, but I still think it's nice to have them here as a record. September was a funny month that went so fast, with a few ups and downs from moving but all in all a good month.

By the way I am still crazy about that confetti system tassel garland, I brought it out for my flat's farewell dinner and I think I need to find more excuses to take it out of it's box home!

Doughnuts

Last weekend I made some lemon curd filled doughnuts for Island Menu, it's been a while since I've done a post but I was pleased with how they turned out!

I always find at this time of year the number of photographs I take decreases because of the lack of daylight hours, instagram helps that and I think it's a nice way of recording little things that happen. June seemed to involve a lot of trips to Jackman & McRoss, a few walks, a little getaway to Stanley, bright tulips, and this past weekend a bunch of beautiful red rhubarb that I'm thinking needs to be turned into a pie with some apples.

Long Weekend - Marrawah

A few more shots from the weekend, we took a little drive to Marrawah, wow that place is so incredibly beautiful. You may or may not know that I love green and seeing those hills with the ocean and trees like that...kinda blew me away.

Long Weekend - Stanley

We headed off to the north west coast of Tasmania on friday for the long weekend and I loved it, it is so beautiful up there, all green and beautiful big landscapes, quite different to the scenery I am used to in the south. Admittedly the weather was pretty amazing for winter, perfect blue skies and sunshine and possibly an extra few minutes of daylight (it truly does seem to make a difference), but it was wonderful in every other way too. I am realising that there are so many places in my home state I don't know at all and think maybe more holidays at home are in order for the future.

Lately..

I had last week off for a rather needed holiday and got away to country Victoria and Melbourne for a few days. It was really lovely, despite the fact that it rained in the city the whole time! We had some fantastic food: went back to Pizza Verde in Kyneton, dinners at Hu Tong and Movida Aqui, breakfast at the European, lunch at Earl Canteen and cupcakes from Little Cupcakes....mmm now I am hungry just thinking about it! I also did some shopping to stock up on basics, which was a bit dull, but necessary. Oh and I also got bitten by the Instagram bug, I’ve been hesitant about it for a while, but it is so easy while being on holiday to use the iphone rather than lug the slr about. So above are some of my shots...I'm littleglowinglights.

2011 in pictures

It would be very foolish not to acknowledge that this year has been a pretty amazing one for me, so much has happened: my house was on the Design Files, I did a class at the Agrarian kitchen, went to Europe and had a fantastic holiday, had a memorable 30th birthday with my friends, started Island Menu with Sam, loved Ozmas, went to Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, improved my cooking skills and most definitely had fun and lots of good times, which is what I wanted most of all and what I hope 2012 will be full of. So I hope everyone has a wonderful evening tonight, thank you so much for reading my little blog and have a wonderful new year.

Island Menu Christmas Cards

I am very excited to share a little project Sam and I have been working on for Island Menu over the past few months....christmas recipe cards. Yes thinking about christmas that far in advance was no easy task (for us!) but we got there in the end and I am so proud of the results. I can vouch that each recipe on the cards is worth giving a whurl, but I particularly love the champagne poached salmon...totally decadent and perfect for that time of year, ooh and the cocktail of course! different but the same

I have been feeling a bit blerg about my photographs lately and actually deleted a whole heap without keeping any which is quite unusual for me, but this weekend I feel a bit better about things. Sometimes I feel like I always go to the same places and see the same things and just end up taking different -but-the-same pictures in my house. I need to mix it up!

Anyway the weekend has been a really good one, went to the farmers market looking for asparagus but came home with more peonies, visited the Market and saw Sarah's lovely stall, and then came home to work on an Island Menu post that will be up early this week (i think!). All in all rather nice.
