Things I Love

Homemade lemon meringue pie, with lemons from a friend's tree. So good to share with family.

Shoes

Today wasn’t so great, at lunch I tripped crossing the road and while fortunately I didn’t fall over and face-plant it in front of the waiting traffic, I did rip a hole in the toe of my sambag woven flats. I’m not happy, I liked those shoes a lot and I don’t think they can be fixed. So I’ve been studying their website looking for replacements, above are my faves. Which ones do you like best? All from Sambag.

Winter Sun

Despite the fact that it was pretty chilly this weekend the sun did come out, and it was lovely. I went for a walk in my neighbourhood and was happy to see some winter roses and some graffiti quoting rage against the machine (but I didn't photograph it), it made me smile.

Photo Collaboration

A little over a month ago Jac from Coco Sunday and I decided to work on a photo collaboration project, where we would choose a theme, take some pictures and send them to each other in the post and include a something little extra for that theme. My package arrived on friday and I was so excited. Our theme this month was 'story' and Jac has taken some amazing shots combining something modern and something older taking some shots of the book Villette by Charlotte Bronte with some Japanese masking tape as well as made a beautiful garland. I had so much fun doing this project and receiving Jac's interpretation, and I'm looking forward to out next little collaboration.

Good Mail Day

My copy of Sundays are for Lovers arrived, it is wonderful, so many lovely pictures. I have such a big list of books I'd love to order right now including:

Great British Food from Canteen
Paris Made by Hand
this lovely copy of Jane Eyre
Megan Morton's Home Love and
The Selby Is In Your Place.

Winter feels like the perfect time for ordering books! I'd love to know what's on other people's lists?

This Weekend

Thank you for all your kind well wishes, I'm starting to feel a little better.... although I think the two times I managed to hit my head today haven't helped me much : ) clumsy people should not get illnesses where their spatial awareness is affected! Anyway it has been a very quiet weekend, a little knitting, painting my hall table/ironing board, breakfast for lunch, visiting friends (and taking some of Michelle's yum oh cupcakes for morning tea) and being given homegrown pumpkins and lemons in return.

A Pretty Gift

My mum had a day in Melbourne this week and brought me back some pretty macarons from Laurent. Of course I had to photograph them, so far the lime and the lemon have been my favourites, I guess I like citrus. They were good for cheering me up : )

Friday

Hi there,

Sorry things have been a little quiet here this week. I've spent the last two days sleeping with bad sinus'. No fun, and I wanted to go for drinks with friends tonight but instead I think it will be a quiet one on the couch. Double no fun.

Oh well. Here are some pictures from around my house, thread for a new crafty project, my grey blanket that I am in love with, and some pink tulips for extra cheer.

I'm hoping my antibiotics will kick in soon so I can enjoy the weekend. The plan is to paint the ironing board in my hall, I think it's time to say goodbye to the blue. I hope you all have a lovely weekend too.

knitting

....very slowly, but I am enjoying it. I think I'm making a scarf, I hope I'll finish it.

Also I love all the soup recipes in the new donna hay, there are at least six I want to make right away.

Good Things

Mushroom and cheese pizza to share with friends, a sunshiny warm winter weekend and a long one at that! I love that I have today to potter around the house. Long weekends are the best.

Item # 1,573 on my current wish list (trust me it’s long!): this little purse from Tas-ka.

Cold

A few more autumn-y/winter shots from around the place. Tonight it is really cold, and I'm guessing snowing on the moutain, I've been sitting in front of the heater practicing my knitting for tomorrow night's class. I have forgotten how to pearl already : )

By the way, Angus hates having his picture taken, you can see the seething irritation in his eyes, so I’ve adopted a back of the head method, he’s so fluffy and soft at the moment with his winter coat.

Interior Love

All I can say is wow! I'm completely in love with Nikole's house on Design Sponge. It makes me want to change everything about my house. That wall hanging in the first picture is amazing.

My old blue room

I've been staying in my old blue room at my parents while they've been away, I spent so much time picking out the colour years ago and I still love it. My mum left some pretty flowers in a vase and I want one of those velvet cushions with pom poms for my house. Can't believe it's sunday night already......I hope you had a lovely weekend.

PS. Typing that title in makes me think of the passengers song 'your blue room', so dreamy ....

In the Park

I’m finding the grey skies and increasingly short days a little depressing at the moment, and yes we are only two days into winter. I did chase the sunshine at lunch today and take some pictures in the park. (my first in manual mode, it needs work but that's cool.)

I am hanging out for a few supplies to arrive in my letterbox so I can start a new crafty project I have in mind. It’s been awhile, so I am looking forward to working on something different and hoping it will help cheer me up a little. I’m also starting a knitting course with a friend tomorrow night which is bound to be entertaining and hopefully productive!

a song for a wednesday: Faster by Janelle Monae.

Interior Love: Megan Morton

I think like everyone else right now, I am pretty taken with Megan Morton's gorgeous home. I love the bookshelf behind the bed, the black floors and artwork. Her book is definitely on my list!
