We have had a lot going on over the past few weeks, so I have completely ignored this space. I made a very quick decision to apply for a new job when I returned to work after our Sydney break, and in just under a week found out that I had been successful, it's not a big change (same organisation) but it is a new challenge. We also had some news about our renovations which mean that they might happen much sooner than we had thought, I am so excited but also nervous, so many (many) decisions to make. How do you decide what oven to go with, which taps you won't hate in five years, and bathroom vanities (I think that is going to be one of the hardest choices). Just to top if off Elroy has been teething and I've had a cold/flu which has kept me in bed two days this week. I am so glad it is friday.
We might start the saturday morning trips to bathroom suppliers, and appliance and tiling stores tomorrow, and we might make the most of the semi decent weather and spend some time outside. Also I heard rumours of a new Frank Ocean album so that's pretty exciting (Channel Orange was on very high rotation here).

friday
I'm looking forward to the weekend, mother's day is one of my favourite days, and I've been menu planning for the lunch I make for my mum every year. So far I'm thinking little passionfruit curd meringue tarts, berry butterfly cakes, chicken sandwiches (with home made bread) and some other savoury option. Let's see how much time I actually get to do it all! I think we might go for breakfast tomorrow morning, pick up some flowers from the market, and we might watch the last episode of Master of None (the second last episode was so so good, it will be sad when it is finished), get a good walk in and play some records (Matt gave me Gorillaz for my birthday and it needs a loud spin!).

last weekend/friday
I meant to post these photographs earlier this week, but the long weekend, combined with Elroy's first day at childcare has completely thrown me. It's been an emotional week. I'm knackered and am very glad we are about to start another weekend. I am a stresser, there is no doubt about it, I over think everything and letting go of Elroy was so hard. I will write about how he has reacted to it in his next 52 post. Let's just say I didn't feel free or care-free the day I didn't have him.
Last weekend was really great, we took a trip up the east coast and everyone loved it, I swear even Jerry had a smile on his face. Elroy really took to the water, constantly wanting to walk into the swell without holding hands, not that he had a choice.
I think we might have another beach day this weekend if the weather stays decent. I was also given some lovely plums, and I've hunted down the pigeon hole cafe crostata recipe to use for them. The produce is so good at the moment, so perhaps we might grab some other things from the farmers market for the week ahead, hopefully it will inspire some more interesting dinners. We are in a dinner rut!

Friday
I'm starting to panic and feel rather anxious at the moment. I return to work at the end of the month (only two days a week, which I know is not such a big deal) but Elroy will be going to childcare for one day a week (the other he will be with my mum), and I am freaked out. So many blogs I read seem to talk about the time when their children start school, but what about daycare? I feel like a terrible mother for leaving him, but on the other hand, I know he is a very sociable child and he will get a lot out of it. I also know that he is in very good hands, and will be just fine, but inside my heart is breaking at the thought of leaving him and everything changing. He isn't even 12 months yet. He will start next week, and have a few days there over the next few weeks before I return to work. I am trying really hard not to think about it, to instead plan out how I might actually spend a while entire day on my own (I think a swim, some house sorting and a nice lunch out somewhere are in order), but it is difficult. I guess I also feel nervous about going back to work, about having to actually use my brain in that environment again. I feel it is not going to be an easy transition.
Anyway it is Friday and the start of the long weekend, so I am going to let go of all those thoughts, and feelings, and just go with it. We are hoping to get away to the east coast for a day trip and I can't wait to have a swim in the ocean. It has been a few weeks now and the local 'Y' I swim at is just not the same. I think we might actually make it to local pizza this weekend, and I had a brainwave to build a daybed for our bedroom, to replace the hideous purple couch we have under the window - which is a lovely sun spot. I don't think we will build the daybed but it will be good to sort out a plan!

Friday

I couldn’t be happier that today is Friday, this week I’ve been sick with some kind of stomach bug and also seem to have had so many other little niggly non-issues to deal with…. like realising that my wifi wasn’t password protected….ugh I don’t even know how it lost it because I know it did have one, anyway some pain in the behind was using all my downloads and I have had super slooow internet all week which drives me crazy. See niggly issues I don’t need!
So this weekend I have no plans whatsoever, except I want to make a sleep mask, and I saw a recipe for bloody mary mussels in the new Jamie book and they sound pretty darn good to me. How ‘bout you, anything exciting planned?

I've been going back to the 20x200 site regularly over the past few months, they have some really great affordable art. Unfortunately the third pic here has sold out, otherwise it would be a hanging on my wall : )Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Happy Friday

I am so tired tonight, you have no idea. My eyes are struggling to stay open.
I've been making plans tonight for holidays next year, my 30th year (ahhh!), and it's both exciting and a little daunting. It's nice to have something to look forward to.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Yay, Friday!

Hi there,
Hope you have all had lovely weeks, mine has been a little tiring and work centric and I’m rather glad it’s almost the weekend so I can have a big sleep in!
I saw this week that Frankie has a new diary/journal for 2011, and it’s very sweet. The past few years I’ve used the black moleskine diary and really love their simplicity, but the Frankie one is tempting particularly with the blue-y-green cover.
Also good for a Friday: some shiny pop from Little Red

Friday

Hi there,Sorry things have been a little quiet here this week. I've spent the last two days sleeping with bad sinus'. No fun, and I wanted to go for drinks with friends tonight but instead I think it will be a quiet one on the couch. Double no fun.
Oh well. Here are some pictures from around my house, thread for a new crafty project, my grey blanket that I am in love with, and some pink tulips for extra cheer.
I'm hoping my antibiotics will kick in soon so I can enjoy the weekend. The plan is to paint the ironing board in my hall, I think it's time to say goodbye to the blue. I hope you all have a lovely weekend too.

Happy friday and christmas wish list!

Happy Friday. One week to go! Is anyone else counting? I sure am, this holiday break is truly needed. After yet another crazy busy week I’m looking forward to a night in to bake some biscuits, turn on the fairy lights and make some christmas crackers.
I thought I’d share my christmas wish list. While there's nothing I desperately have to have this year, these are a few things I do very much like:
1. cushion with pom pom from castle and things
2. eames hang it all from living edge
3. wire shopping basket from mieke willems
4. some basic summer tops from skin and threads
5. pearl drop earrings from mimco
6. beci orpin fox purse from lark
7. kit pomegranite and pink grapefruit handcream
8. karen walker deep freeze sunglasses
9. cath kidston cutlery set
10. the Sartorialist book from the book depository and the river cottage family cookbook
I'd love to know what's on your list!
Happy friday!

Happy Friday

Happy friday!
I'm most definitely looking forward to the weekend, a big sleep in, a movie, hopefully some crafting and a few new recipes to try out. Sounds good to me.
I am also happy because Ez from Creature Comforts is re-opening her Nice Package store and it looks like there are going to be some great new pieces. I can't wait to put my order in, those little doilies are on my must have list.
Have a great weekend
Catherine
