spring, more like winter...

I’ve been watching it snow on the mountain and nearby hills all day from my window at work. It’s quite pretty really and has me thinking of cosy slippers, hot chocolates, good books and stews, I’m ignoring the fact that it is almost October!!

Anyway I had thought months ago about stewpots and my search lead me to the Hairy Bikers cookware. I have to be honest and say that I’ve never watched their show but I do love their designs. The blue and terracotta is beautiful together.

Mirror, Mirror

I have been in serious saving mode the last few months desperately trying to stick to a tight budget (more on that another time) and even going for long walks at lunch to avoid spending it looking at shops in town. It has worked too, until I went into a little antique store that I was positive would have nothing of interest to me….yeah I was wrong.

I spied a mirror, I spent days thinking about the mirror, the price was good considering the size (it’s quite enormous), had a second look and then went back a third time to buy it. Actually I am so pleased I did, I love it, it’s simple but quite lovely and changes the space in my living room nicely. One of those forever pieces.

This Weekend

Days seem to be going so fast right now! Yesterday was grand final day and there was a lot of yelling at the tv in the last ten minutes, with no result either! Today was a serious spring cleaning day, it feels good to clear out some things, and also a making day - felt garlands and carrot cupcakes. I hope you had a lovely weekend too!

Where We Blog From

Recently I discovered Jane's blog, ill seen, ill said, I don't know how I had not stumbled across it sooner but it was one of those finds that had me reading the previous post for quite a long time. I love both her writing and style. Jane contacted me and asked if I'd like to take part in her where we blog from series, which of course I did! So if you are curious please go visit, and also stay a bit longer too : )

I made..

...apple and pear tarts.
I also took a lot of photographs : )
It was fun and the tarts are good with custard.

Breakfast at Jackman and McRoss (and a strawberry and pistachio tart to take home for later)
Snow on Mt Wellington

oh and I've been listening to the new DJ Shadow tracks a lot - so good to hear new things from him as he is one of my all time favourites.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend too.

Interior Love

I recently watched the first episode of 9 by Design and rather enjoyed it, I love their style, they have some amazing peices and it seems like a massive space for New York.

Pictures via living etc.

Yay, Friday!

Hi there,

Hope you have all had lovely weeks, mine has been a little tiring and work centric and I’m rather glad it’s almost the weekend so I can have a big sleep in!

I saw this week that Frankie has a new diary/journal for 2011, and it’s very sweet. The past few years I’ve used the black moleskine diary and really love their simplicity, but the Frankie one is tempting particularly with the blue-y-green cover.

Also good for a Friday: some shiny pop from Little Red

This Weekend...

was that perfect mix of spending time with friends, walks and enjoying some space and time at home, in the sunshine with the front door open! It was short lived as we are now back to wind and rain, but I'm pleased I made the most of it. I hope everyone else had a great weekend too.

White Couch

If you’ve been reading little glowing lights for a while you might recall late last year I talked about making a white cover for my little couch. Well the first part is finally finished!! (there’s still the corner/end part to come). I am so pleased with it, and while one day I will splurge and buy a new couch, right now this is pretty great.

Lately:

* I still like green as you can see from the two shots above!
*How sweet are these cake portraits? The opening sounded like fun too.
*I went to see Tomorrow When the War Began, and it was crazy! I read the book when I was about 12, and loved it, but seeing it was interesting, especially because for the most part I sat tense in my seat but then there were lots of very Australian one liners that were funny.
*Amazingly there’s a whole radiohead concert on you tube to watch, I loved weird fishes/arpeggi in particular, oh and how to disappear completely.

Oh and thank you so much for all your lovely comments about the clouds, if you are interested I used the recipe here and they were delicious, especially with the vanilla bean.

Lovely Things

I had the great pleasure of going to the post office yesterday to collect not one but two parcels. The first is the most beautiful little heart necklace made by Anna that I won in a very generous giveaway. It is really very lovely. Anna takes some great photographs so I hope you will visit her blog and shop. (Thank you so so much Anna!). My other parcel was the first of the 3191 Quarterly's, I love everything Stephanie and Mav do and this is wonderful!

Spring

Today in honour of the arrival of spring, my favourite tree in full bloom. I walk past every day and this week have been amazed by the amount of blossom! It's wonderful.
