Etsy Love

I've been trawling etsy a lot lately, it's my winter-evening time filler when there's nothing on tv (even though I have the Mighty Boosh dvd lined up to watch).

...and it rained all night and then all day.

Thanks Thom for your lyric, I've had this song stuck in my head (not a bad thing because I love it) and yeah it's been raining - a lot. I love it when it's like this, it always reminds me of other rainy days, being at school and having to stay in the classroom at lunch rather than out in the yard, or being at uni and deciding to play truant (because maybe it is just a little too wet to walk and perhaps i would rather watch some bad day-time tv than go to a lecture on contracts, or trusts or some such thing). At work it's a little different now, being high up in a building and watching the weather pass by the windows, seeing the mountain hidden behind cloud and quite probably snow. Rainy days are quiet, soft and they have their own beat.

Black and White

Loving black and white homewares at the moment, these in particular:

Ugh Monday!
Monday I am not your biggest fan.
In your early hours, when it was far too soon to be awake, wild winds battered my window.
When it was going to be a walking morning you threatened rain (and then didn't when it was too late!)
Work was soooooooooooo quite and resulted in writing a paper on what could possibly be the dullest subject ever.
You took away a lovely weekend for this......

on the brightside:
these make me smile
I want to listen to this from start to finish
I'm green for this lamp
these are very cool
I love my yellow bag with little bees.

The Prize

I had intended to find a pize for the blog-iversary earlier this week, but I never had the chance until yesterday. I have selected a little elk tree brooch made from timber, and to compliment it (black and white together is my favourite right now) a little deer key ring. Because I was a little slow buying the gift I will postpone the draw until tomorrow, so if you interested just leave a comment.
Have a happy weekend!

Big Green Chicken Rocker

I might be completely behind the 8 ball on this one but I am only just discovering the amazing work of Jamie Hayon. And a big green chicken rocker....that's fantastic, I would love one!

First Blog-iversary!

Today is Little Glowing Lights first birthday! I can't believe I have been blogging for a year now, that went faster than me devouring a new Vogue Living mag (pretty quick!). I have loved the fact that this has allowed me to 'meet' so many new people and share all my interests and creations with other wonderfully kind bloggers. It has been a great experience!

I would like to share this celebration with everyone out there who reads this, so I am currently in the process of creating a little cd of some of my favourite songs to give away to three other bloggers and to a fourth person, well I am going to have a little wander tomorrow and find a special surprise to send your way. So if you'd like to participate just leave a comment and I will draw the winners this saturday.

Thank you so much for making this blog more than just a blank space for my ramblings, I love all your comments and reading your own posts.

In the true spirt of Bloomsday we walked this morning in the frosty cold, unfortunately it was not quite an aimless walk for experiences as a flaneur should, we did have a destination (why oh why do we have to work!). But I like the idea of this very much, one day I would love have the opportunity to wander around a big city like Dublin, Paris or New York and not have plans or an idea of where to go, just aimless and free. However today it was Hobart, and instead shared a rather indulgent lunch in the park, watching people pass by.

My First Mini Moo Cards

I've been meaning to show off my first mini moo cards, I am so impressed with the way they turned out. I think next time I might try out the postcards.

This Weekend

This weekend I am still recovering from a sinus infection (yuk!) permanent headache for five or so days has worn me out. So I spent lots of time at home not really doing a great deal at all, I made banana cake and enjoyed afternoon tea, did a tiny weeny bit of shopping, and contemplated starting to make a quilt. Hmm how far I will get with that one is yet unknown...
This week is shaping up to be a big one tomorrow is Bloomsday, and tuesday is my blog's first birthday wow-ee! A year, I will have to do something to celebrate, the obligatory give away perhaps! I think that will be fun. So stay tuned.

I have been feeling a bit under the weather the past week, so I decided I needed some new inspiration to cheer me up a little. I updated my notice board (although it's maybe a tad wintery), ordered some new books, and listened to some new music. Cold War Kids for Rd and the new Lyrics Born for me. I was so close to getting the new Portishead, but then thought maybe I needed something a little more cheerful. Has anyone been listening to the new Portishead, is it worth getting?

I like Birds

Pretty birds for a pretty busy day! I had the most wonderful relaxing, quiet long weekend (thank you Queenie for having a birthday - when your real birthday is I haven't worked out) and today have been thrown back into the mad world again. Why the birds? Well while I am absolutely terrified of the real things (i have no idea why) I love all things birdy at the moment.

Oh That old Headdress

Both editions of this months Real Living and Inside Out featured houses with this beautiful pinky/red puff ball of feathers on the walls. I think it was the colour that initially struck me, but was intrigued when I read that it was a west african headdress. I would love to see what it actually looks like in real life, I am sure something this beautiful most be worth a fortune, but I might have to do a little hunting down myself, just in case!

Lover, their name says it all, these dresses, oh and those shoes. This program about the label is so inspiring. I am in love for several reasons myself, tomorrow is the friday before a long weekend, yay! I have only a few plans and I like that fact very much.

White Space Wednesday

White space is pretty much how my brain feels tonight, a bit blank. I will be back with more tomorrow.
I have this song stuck in my head, so powerful, I think I mainly like his voice in it.

Donna Wilson

Meet Bunny Blue and Baby Blue, Beryl, Ginge, Ralf, Harry Hairy Head and Tig! All made by the incredibly talented Donna Wilson, they are so cute and I love that she has given us a little insight into each of their personalities. I'm sure if you spend so much time making creatures like these you are bound to get to know their little quirks. I also love her tea cosies and cuddly cloud cushions.

Officially Winter

Today it is officially winter, I'm not yet sure if that is good or bad, but really I just had to share this picture with you (from here).

When I was younger my mum would buy World of Interiors magazines every month (she still does) and I would pour over them (I still do). The one thing I loved most was all the advertisements for fabrics, Colefax and Fowler, Osborne and Little, Designers Guild, always thinking how great it would be to be a fabric designer. Well maybe in some small way this beautiful looking book by Lena Corwin will allow me a little taste of designing and making my own fabric.
