...
I've posted about Agneta Livijn ceramics before, but oh those cups and bowls are just such wonderful colours and having seen her work while I was in Sweden I know the quality is amazing. Too bad we still can't get them in Australia.
I know it's been a bit quiet here on the blog lately but actually I'm in the process of moving house, and it's exciting and daunting and a little bit sad all in one and I haven't really felt like writing about it. My little flat has been my home for four years, and despite it's many faults it has been a really lovely place to live in. But I am really excited for this change and for the future, so I hope to be more settled soon and show you my new home.

This Weekend
I don't have many words tonight, I feel tired but haven't done anything to make me feel this way. It's been a weekend of doing things that should have been done already, cleaning up and clearing out. Sometimes I feel I have waaay too much stuff for one person. It can be overwhelming, don't think I actually need a third of it!

Confetti

At the moment I have a funny thing for confetti, I think it is the colours. Expect to see a few more shots over the next few weeks. Today I felt stuck, like I need to do something different, be somewhere different. I'm not sure what or where. It's a frustrating feeling. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

ok... now I'm back properly!

Hi there,
Please excuse my little break, it really wasn’t intentional but I only came home to my flat late last night after house-sitting/kitty-sitting and I’ve learnt that blogging from a foreign computer is just not something I can do!
I wanted to share a few links, I love all these things so much:
* Lena's vintage napkins - the print is gorgeous
* Ingrid's house on sfgirlbybay, so amazing
* pink clouds by Alessandra, so pretty and dreamy, and I am so tempted : )
* Stephanie's little leaves
oh yeah and I've been listening to Ian Brown's My Way which i'm really liking a lot.
I hope everyone's having a great week!

Reality

This week has felt like it’s been about twenty years long…ok that’s an exaggeration but it’s felt long and really hot and I’m currently housesitting/catsitting for my parents which means I’ve been back and forth between two places. Reality has definitely kicked in. There my whinging is done!
On the brightside the white cover for my couch is starting to come together, there's still a lot to do but I am excited, oh and I splurged and got the cushion with the pom pom from castle and things. I really love their products and would love some of their artwork but that definitely isn't in the budget right now.

Bits and Pieces

I can't believe tomorrow is friday and my holidays are disappearing far too quickly, I'm dreading reality on monday. I think this year is going to have to be a year of big changes!
Anyway I've been eking out the past few days baking cinnamon buns, making homemade pasta, bolognaise and soup with my roast tomatoes, walking and more reading and after seeing Fantastic Mr Fox I had to rewatch the Darjeeling Limited and loved it even better this time around. It's been pretty relaxing round here.

Needing Pretty and Inspiring

I've reached that count down stage. Today I sat at work looking at my calendar finding various different ways of making the time till the end of the year seem sooner than it really is. I'm a bit burnt out, it's been a big year of stress, and I'm done with it all now.
So I've been trying to make sure things at home are pretty and inspiring to keep me going that little bit longer, lots of new books (Donna Hay's Seasons - such great styling, and Cupcakes from the Primrose Bakery in London - very good cake!), christmas magazines and a new print (that I'm so glad is available again as I missed out the first time).
PS when I load my photo's onto blogger they seem to come out at a much poorer quality...does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Cactus

I hope everyone had a wonderful break. Mine has been so quiet but that's exactly what I wanted, and not a single easter egg have I consumed. So impressed (the chocolate cake on friday was well and truly enough)! I had plans to make a few things I've been thinking about, but so far all that has been produced is this little cactus. It's really not how I imagined but it's kinda cute....there's still tomorrow.

In Pictures

Pictures from this week: broccoli soup for dinner, purchases for autumn (what else is a newly single girl to do to ease a sad heart), and a progress update on the crochet front (yep it's gonna be pink, I couldn't help myself. Even though I'd really love a gorgeous dove grey one....).

Tuesday, 17 March 2009

Hi there,
I've been cooped up in a project management course all day today (still two days to go, ugh!), I find it hard sitting still for so long and had to go for a massive walk this evening, which was cause nice, it's one of those evenings where everything is calm and you feel that pull to stay outside until it's completely dark.
So my second attempt at crochet is turning out rather nicely, I've amazed myself, four granny squares are complete and I hope to do another tonight. I must have this strange need to make blankets, my quilt is at the stage where I can put the backing on and pull it together and before it's done I'm starting a granny square blanket. Perhaps it is an unconscious preparation for winter? I'm not ready for that just yet!
Oh and lastly I am hoping there will be a little update to my etsy store this weekend, I'm feeling excited about it so stay tuned.
I hope your having an enjoyable tuesday!

This Weekend

I've been in a bit of a fuzzy haze, I'm still adjusting to changes in my life, it's been hard. No matter what I do my mind is elsewhere, so I went with it this weekend and had lots of quiet time:
* learning to crochet again,
* downloading and listening to the entire Joe Stummer London Calling radio show, his music selections are amazing from Van the man, the Stones, Hendrix, Dylan, underworld, nina simone, and so much music from Africa, Columbia, India.. you name it it's in there. (I feel I have undergone a musical revelation in one weekend)
* choc royale biscuits for afternoon tea, marshmallow-y goodness,
* visiting this lovely little market
and listening to rain and thunderstorms.

Genius

Every morning I walk to work, that short 25 minutes of my day is something I don’t think I could do without. It’s my time to wake up, listen to music and enjoy being out in the fresh air, to ready myself before a day at my desk (thrilling I know!). The last week or so this has been even more enjoyable, someone in my street has planted sunflowers all the way up the nature strip. It’s a wonderful sight, some are in flower some are still tightly closed, they are all in rows and they make me smile. Whoever planted them must be a genius!

Midnight Blue

I'm not a dress kinda girl, but this one really makes me wish I was. It's even better that it looks in the photograph.

Hey Cowboy

I realise I am showing a picture of my bed following a picture of my pj's! This weekend wasn't all about sleeping however, I did spend some time in the sunshine reading, had dinner with friends and made some raspberry cakes.
I wanted to post this picture because it shows the gorgeous pillow cases my very talented Mum made for me. I bought the Cath Kidston fabric ages ago and wanted to use it for something special and so we picked out some pink gingham and used cream calico for the sides and backs and my Mum put them together in a day. I'm impressed, they are beautifully made and something special to me.

March

Hello March! I'm not sure if this means it is now officially autumn or not, but I am definitely starting to think about cooler weather, cosy slippers, and soup! I think this is a bit reflective of my need to have a bit of hibernation time, to think about life right now and what it means. But on the lighter side I really love a few of the new items from French Connection, these blouses are so sweet hmm mr postman might be having to stop by my house soon.

Wouldn't It be loverly...
...to watch every Audrey Hepburn film ever made, sew a cute softie toy, discover London with the Howling Bells, change the world with a photo, spend a day with your mum, travel all around Europe, wear some nice new clothes, chat with Ben Kweller, fix up your push bike....so says the cover of the new Frankie and I completely agree, it sounds very loverly!

The love of little things

I hope everyone had a lovely Valentines. I was given some gorgeous heart shaped chocolates wrapped in gold paper from my Dad, which made my day, it definitely is the little things that mean the most.
Another little thing that has been quite wonderful has been the opportunity to make apricot jam with the fruit from my mum's tree. It was laden with fruit and they've been so fresh and sweet. My favourite fruit and such a strong reminder of summer's past.

Day Dreamer

Today I’m day-dreaming about :
Pretty macarons
Blue skies and sunshine – preferably enjoying them from under a big leafy green tree
Sewing – I have some new ideas for my store
Curling up in my green blanket drinking peppermint tea
(The reality is grey skies, lots of work, and very sad stories from the bushfires, cupcakes were required)
