Days for Me

Hi there,

It's great to be able to check in here, my ibook is STILL out of comission! Seriously how is a girl supposed to get along for over a week without some internet (boo work for monitoring our use).

I've been on a lovely lazy four day holiday at home all by my lonesome so it's all been about me. Rd has been away walking up mountains the whole time and I miss him terribly, but I've been gocco printing, baking, to the movies, and enjoying the sunshine. Oh and I am so close to being ready for the next store update. Can't wait to share with you all.

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend!

LOVE this print by Sandra Juto available here, rd are you taking note? : )

A Few School Elements

So here is a little peek at what I have been working on lately. Making some little hand stitched memo note books, it's a little like being at school again with the brown paper covers and graph paper front and end pages.
I intend to print, with gocco, a design on the cover but I would like to have a larger batch made before I get to that part. In the meantime I find this process quite meditative and am rather enjoying it. I do hope to have them in the store by next week.

A Personal Challenge

I have been a terribly bad blogger lately, or a terribly busy one maybe... who knew a three day work week could end up being so hectic! So for the next seven days I am setting myself the challenge of blogging everyday and hopefully sharing some new creations I have been working on. Yesterday I went and stocked up on new gocco supplies, finding some great colours to work with and a wealth of helpful hints on buring screens (something I've had a bit of an issue with!) I have no excuses now.
So be sure to check back in this week and help me stick to my challenge!

Sneak Peek

Hi there,

Just wanted to share a little sneak peek of my christmas cards and tags I have been working on over the past few weeks, I spent quite some time today on my trusty gocco printing away and enjoyed it very much, it can be quite meditative when everything goes smoothly. I have been attached to my scissors and cutting tool working on the designs, not much more to do. It's rather exciting!

Little Exciting Moments

I am so excited, my heart just leaped a mile. Listening to the new radiohead, a little late I know but last night I went out and saw this (which is the most gorgeous beautiful film I have seen in a very long time not to mention the soundtrack...sigh) anyway there's a track called Nude, which when I heard it turned out to be Big Ideas! I have loved this song for so long and it hasn't been released until now. Very exciting, well for me anyway!
Besides my musical excitment, I am feeling quite inspired to make another gocco attempt. There seems to be so many beautiful things around at the moment that I feel I have no choice but to do something to be a part of it all.
Oh and tomorrow's friday, even better.

Pretty Pink

Hi there,

I started a new project this week, a little felt cosy for my ipod. I made one earlier this year a bit similar, but decided it was time for a new colour. Pink! Bright and cheerful for this time of year. My sewing leaves a lot to be desired, it's kinda frustrating for me, lots of grand ideas but completely lacking the skills to pull it off. I did enjoy making it very much and sat and watched Marie Antoinette at the same time, although perhaps it wasn't the best choice as it's such a beautiful visual film, maybe that's why my stitching is so bad (and why I choose pink)... a good excuse anyway!
I have also done a few designs for a possible gocco print, but after a few expensive failed attempts I want it to be right before I get to the printing stage.
Oh and I have a little question for my blogging friends, I am looking into purchasing a new camera, I really don't have much idea, what do you use? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hope the week is going well,
Catherine x

From little things

Hi there,
Thought it was about time I shared a few of my ideas with you, some early drawings. I spent sunday morning sitting in my window with the sun on my back drawing away and it was the best feeling, I haven't felt so relaxed for ages. They are only a start, and I am not quite sure where I am going to go with them, I was thinking a gocco print and it would work well with the design but perhaps not the blocked clolour background as they don't seem to print so well. I really like the blue ink on the brown paper but it has been really difficult to photograph so I hope you can get some idea. It's a start and I am pleased about that. As the song goes, from little things big things grow...

Have a great week out there, I am off to watch this

Flowers Everywhere

Thank you all so much for your wonderful kind comments. I am still on cloud nine! This is something that was desperately needed and is going to relieve so much worry in other areas. I got these beautiful roses from rd, they have a wonderful scent. They then sent me off on tangent drawing all different kinds of flowers as ideas for a gocco print, they are a work in progress, and they need a lot of fine tuning but I am getting closer to that illusive idea in my mind.Have a great friday everyone xx

Soup, Soul and Success!

Ahh monday not a huge fan of mondays! I had a lovely semi-quiet weekend. We went to watch some local football which was a bit of fun, made some fantastic winter veggie soup with the brilliant idea of putting some basil pesto on the top to serve (mmmm), and listened to a lot of Sharon Jones who is a totally amazing soul singer and puts you in such a great mood!
I finally had some success with Gocco prints (well I am very pleased with them), I have had a few failed attempts with screens not fully exposing my designs, and was a little frustrated. I have only had my Gocco for a little while and now I am on track and very excited about the process and possibilities! I will share them sometime soon I promise.
Along with doing some printing I had a bit of a go at painting with gouache, I have never worked with it before and rather liked it. My painting skills aren't great at all and I didn't do anything complicated but I wanted something bold and graphic. Anyway it was just relaxing to sit and be absorbed working on it.
