Goodness on a Grey Tuesday

It's been a magnificently miserable grey misty day here!
One of those days when you dream of being home on the couch in front of the tv, warm with a blanket, eating toasted fruit bread (with melted butter of course ) and a nice warm hot chocolate....well I have been anyway! All this while being stuck at my desk at work. Somehow the two don't quite compare. But still a few things brightened my day

* pretty bird pendent
* listening to Warren's Lament by Dirty Three
* wrapping PIF packages, for some reason the wrapping is always my favourite part!
* hotdogs (of a different variety!)
* stocking up on marshmallows for those afore-mentioned hot chocolates
* this shirt (actually I had another to share but must have sold out online already....fortunately I have one on layby)

Lots of goodness on this grey tuesday!

Kitsch Kandles

These candles are a fantastic recycling idea made of soy wax. They could be quite easy to make at home I suspect, but I do love the huge variety of colour, shapes and sizes available already made.

Tagged

I have been tagged by new blogging friend Little Byrd. So here a few things about me

What was I doing 10 years ago
Ahh this is scary thinking back 10 years ago! I was 17 and in my second last year of school, I went to an all girls school and had been there since kindergarten (like most other people in my year - a massive 25 people!) so by then we all knew each other well. It was a different year for me because we got to be more independent, having spare periods and being able to come and go a bit more freely. I spent a lot of my time in the art room working on etching and printmaking. Art was great because my friends were in the same class and we always listened to the radio and got to have a bit of a chat.
10 years ago I was even more obsessive about music than I am now and saw lots of live bands like radiohead, the foo fighters, billy bragg, tea party and countless australian bands.
When I look back I think I was quite confident in myself at this time, out of the really horrible teenage years and starting to grow up. I'm glad to be where I am now and not back then however, in hindsight I still had a lot to learn (as I do now too).

5 things on my to-do list today
I always have a to-do list for each day that is far longer than is humanly possibly.
Today the top five things are:
1. Make some larger pin cushions for the store
2. Job application, well I am hoping to go for a promotion at work, I really don't enjoy doing applications. Can't I just have the job without going through the process....that would be great!
3. Washing and cleaning...oh so exciting!
4. Watch the The Castle again! after going through Bonnie Doon a few weeks ago we have been talking about it and just have to watch it again.
5. Organise my PIF's! I have been so slow with this but don't worry I am working on them right now to send out hopefully next week.

Snacks I enjoy:
I am such a terrible sweet tooth, particularly at work, we have a little box with fun size chocolate bars, it's a terrible temptation. So instead I have been bringing in a small tub of yoghurt everyday.

Things I would do if I was a billionaire
The top things I would do would be buy a house and a car. Dream house of course, being a billionaire might just cover this! I am not so fussy about the car. Following that travel, new computer would be good....

Places I have lived before
I have always lived in the same little town. I do think about living elsewhere, Melbourne in particular, but often if I've been away I realise that this is quite a beautiful place to live. You take the good with the bad.

This Weekend

This weekend was over before I knew it. I went to see dexter and the resin dogs, hung out and ate fish and chips in the sun with rd, went to my nanna's 81st birthday, did some cleaning (ugh!), visited a friends new little kittens, and started making some new pin cushions for the store. No wonder it went by so fast. I hope everyone has a great week out there!

More Yellow and Black

It's not just more yellow and black it's the black spots again with yellow. You may remember this print I was crazy about, well I get to collect it from the framers tomorrow and I can't wait to see what it looks like finished. But seriously who wouldn't want a spotty cup like that in the bathroom with a wooden toothbrush.

My Attempt at Craft This Week

After reading the tutorial here, I had a go at making some fabric covered buttons to convert to drawing pins/push pins for my noticeboard. It was the easiest thing ever, who knew. I bought a little kit from spotlight (slightly expensive $5 for a pack of 6) and it took about two minutes. Now I just have to borrow the hot glue gun I gave mum for mother's day to attach the drawing pins!

A Very Good Reson To Wish it Was Summer

Besides desperately wanting to be able to wear super cute sandals like these (without getting freezing toes!), I wish it was summer right now 'cause it's so hard getting home in the dark after work. I am fighting the forced hibernation with lots of walking and last night started playing squash with rd. I loved it, I hope it will become a weekly event.

This Weekend

Sadly another lovely weekend is over far too quickly, this weekend was all about

- the most amazing evening light
- brunch with my dad in the sunshine and a lovely belated birthday present
- shopping for flowers at the market and spotting a super cute calico shopping bag I might just have to go back for
- finally seeing Starter for 10 and loving it, oh and the soundtrack is brilliant lots of Cure, a bit of the Smiths and Kate Bush...
- playing with the brown kitten and cuddling with the grey one
- my little blog mentioned on Decor 8 (so incredibly exciting!)
- warm milk, honey and nutmeg drinks with rd
- mother's day lunch, making and then eating!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and mother's day.

Soup Season

I've been a bit under the weather this week, it's not much fun and starting to get me a little down. In a effort to combat this I've turned to veggies, and being cold it's definitely soup season. Tonight I made cauliflower and parsnip soup which was very yummy indeed. The things is, I don't have many recipes and I would like to make some for lunch this mother's day for my mum and grandmother, so I'm putting the call out there for your help, any recipes greatly appreciated, what is your favourite?

Road Trip

Hi there,

Last night I returned from a little trip away, we travelled to Melbourne on thursday and then across Victoria to the Murray River for a wedding. It was great to get away for a bit of a break and better still to visit country I have never seen before and explore some places like Glen Rowan (famous for Ned Kelly) and Bonnie Doon (famous from the Castle movie!) and see the mighty Murray for myself (sadly not so mighty and a little depleated but still beautiful).
